What Hearth holds

When you use Hearth, you can record: the date your period started, cycle length and period length, daily flow / energy / mood / body notes, free-text journal entries, life-stage selection, optional birth date / birth time / birth location, language preference, and small interface choices like your orbit star color.

All of this is saved on your device, inside your browser's local storage. It does not travel to Hearth. It does not travel to a third party. It does not travel anywhere.

What Hearth does not do

• No accounts. No sign-up, no login, no email collected by the app.
• No analytics. No Google Analytics, no third-party tracking pixels, no telemetry.
• No cookies of our own. The page sets no tracking cookies.
• No advertising. Hearth does not show ads, does not sell ad placements, does not let advertisers reach you through the app.
• No selling, no sharing, no licensing of user data. There is no user data on our end to sell.
• No location tracking. The optional birth-place field is a text entry you type yourself, never read from your device's GPS.
• No medical claims. Hearth is a record and a reading, not a diagnosis. Always speak to a clinician about anything that concerns you.

How your data leaves your device, when it does

The only way data ever leaves your device is if you move it.

• Manual export. Settings has a "Sync your devices" feature. You export a JSON file of your cycle history. The file lives wherever you put it (Files app, email, AirDrop, iCloud Drive). What happens to it after that is in your hands.
• The Physician Report. If you choose to send the clinical summary to a doctor, the file you generate is yours to send. Hearth never sends it on your behalf and never sees it.

In both cases, you initiate the export and you choose where it goes. Hearth has no automated upload, no cloud sync, no background transmission.

The landing site (hearthcycles.com)

The marketing site you are currently reading is a static page hosted on Netlify. It loads two fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches those fonts, Google sees your IP address. This is standard for any site using Google Fonts. The fonts are cached after the first visit, so subsequent loads don't repeat the request. Beyond that, the site loads no scripts, sets no cookies, and runs no analytics.

If you would prefer not to load fonts from Google, your browser's tracker-blocker (uBlock Origin, Brave, etc.) can block them and the site will gracefully fall back to your system serif.

The Hearth app (app.hearthcycles.com)

The app itself loads from your device's cache after the first visit (it's a Progressive Web App). Once installed to your home screen, it works fully offline. No network requests happen during normal use. The app loads no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, and sets no cookies.

Children

Hearth is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Structurally we cannot, since we collect no data at all. If you are a parent or guardian and you have concerns about your child's use of Hearth, please contact us at the address below.

Your rights, in practical terms

Because Hearth keeps no record of you on our side, there is nothing for us to delete, correct, export, or transfer at your request. Your data lives entirely with you. To delete it, clear the Hearth site data in your browser settings. That wipes everything. To export it, use the manual export inside Settings.

For users in jurisdictions with rights of access, deletion, correction, or portability under GDPR (Europe), PIPEDA (Canada), or CCPA (California), those rights are functionally satisfied by the architecture: you already have access, you can already delete, you can already export, and you already control transfer. There is no Hearth-side copy to act on.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that meaningfully changes what data is handled or how, this policy will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will reflect that. The architectural promise is that your data stays with you. That isn't something we plan to change. If we ever did, it would require a separate explicit opt-in from you.
